Volunteer for the Summer Cooling Center

Hello,

We have wonderful news!

Again this year we are running our

Summer Cooling Center for the Homeless

in Tucson's inner-city.

In coordination with our partnership with the City of Tucson,

Ward 3, and Councilman Kevin Dahl,

we are raising money to benefit St Francis Shelter Community Summer Cooling Center. Your donations will make an huge positive impact.

Unsheltered desert life can be brutal. We will be offering hospitality in the Franciscan spirit, where our unhoused neighbors can rest in a cool air conditioned place.

St. Francis Shelter Community Summer Cooling Center will offer to each of our daily visitors:

- Sack lunch

- Water

-Gatorade

-Snacks

We also will offer medical aid to address wounds and sunburns as well as other services like housing assistance sign-up and recovery support services for all that are interested.

Your generous donation will help us provide this much needed respite to those vulnerable members of our community.

Also, in preparation for the Summer Cooling Center, an opportunity for Tucson's homeless community to find respite from the summer heat, St. Francis Shelter is seeking volunteers. This service will be offered Monday through Friday, June 26th through September 15th, from 1pm to 5pm at 1510 E Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85719.

St. Francis Shelter is Seeking Volunteers

Fr. Gregory Boyle, SJ Speaks at St. Francis Shelter

"We stand with the poor and the powerless and the voiceless…we stand with those whose dignity has been denied and those whose burdens are more than they can bear…we stand with the easily despised and the readily left out…we stand with the demonized and the disposable.”
