Soup Patrol Blog

November 1st

On November 1st we started our soup patrol.  This is our first go at this important service to the unhoused. Our partnership continues with Caridad Kitchen of Southern Arizona Community Food Bank will provide a delicious hearty soup and hot chocolate to serve up.  We will do this behind Z Mansion at Ash Alley, Monday to Friday, 5pm until soup is gone or til 7pm.

Our first night saw about 40 people who were grateful for this endeavor and we're certain to see them many a night until our end date of March 29, 2024.

Our first night's volunteers were a trio of sisters who have enjoyed our past event, An Evening with Gregory Boyle. They were much fun to meet and enjoyed getting to know them.  We also has a Wednesday driver who wanted to get more involved them just giving money to those on there streets.  Our summer cooling Center Manager had her son and grandson in tow as well.  Her grandson was very helpful in offering socks and blankets to those who came.  He  clearly enjoyed being of help and will definitely continue his service of help in the future as he gets older.  Never to young to lend a hand I guess! I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know our future volunteers who have signed up.  I definitely hope all our volunteers will have fun and enjoy a mutual purpose of helping those living on the streets in providing a hearty soup and hot chocolate made with milk...giving them that extra bit of nutrients everyone can use.

If you'd like to be a part of this exciting service and volunteer please reach out to our Director of Operations Shawn Milligan via email at ShawnStFrancisShelter@yahoo.com  or if a financial contribution is more for you, our website has direction to do so.

As always we appreciate your continued support of our shelter and all of of outreach programs we are cultivating.

In service,

Shawn
